Forum for Crèche & Child Care Services (Bihar FORCES) is a network of more than thirty organizations with its presence in eight different states of India. Bihar Forces was established in the 1989 to work with women and their children from unorganized sector.
With its multi prolonged work in Bihar Nidan observed absence of any credible platform for the children between the age group of 0-6 years which raises their issues in effective manner. Addressing concern of Children in Bihar in 2002 Bihar FORCES came into existence with the collaboration of 23 organizations and now it has 34 partner organizations working in 34 different districts of Bihar.
Bihar FORCES is an advocacy network of Trade unions, NGOs, Women's organizations, academic institutions and research organizations. Those children whose mothers are working in unorganized sector remain unattended till their mother come back to home. This severely restricts child’s social, psychological and physical development impeding their overall growth. Bihar FORCES aims to ensure right of proper early childhood care and development to these children. Bihar FORCES has identified five thrust areas of intervention- Birth Registration, Immunization, Pre primary Education, Maternity Entitlement and Nutrition.
Bihar FORCES is constituent of the National FORCES committed towards survival and development of children in Bihar. Bihar FORCES works as an important network partner of National FORCES and playing crucial role in advocating issues related to the early childhood development. Unlike its National network or different State chapters, Bihar FORCES is registered under Societies Registered Act.
Mission
Appropriate and adequate care and development is right of every child. Bihar FORCE mission is to catalyze required changes in polices and bring suitable legislations for better care and development of children and essential maternity facilities to the mothers working in unorganized sector.
Objectives of Bihar forces:
Bihar FORCES has been mandated to sensitize and advocate with society in general and Government in particular to bring due policies and to create complementary facilities for their efficient implementation. Bihar FORCES visions for all around physical, psychological and social development aimed at healthy childhood of children within the age group 0-6.
Long-term objectives-
- Health care to all the 0-6 children including immunization and nutrition
- Child care including pre schooling services to the target group
- Maternity Benefit to the mothers working in informal sector
- Effective functioning of ICDS, health centers, education system etc in schools.
- A strong community able to raise issues of its rights
- Adequate fund allocation from State Govt. towards allocation of state GDP for the target groups.
