A two day Samajik Vikas Mela- Social Development Fair was organized on 27-28 March 2010 at Hajipur district of Bihar. Various women Self Help Groups, local NGOs, village committees, street vendors and small entrepreneurs put their stalls in this Mela. Nidan took this initiative with dual purpose- various groups can get opportunity to spread information about their work and products and second, to disseminate awareness about various developmental schemes of Govt. and about the five main issues of Bihar Forces, i.e. Birth Registration, Immunization, Pre-Primary Education, Maternity Entitlement & Nutrition.
In two days fair more than 5000 community members visited this Mela. They purchased different products from various stalls of food, make-up and home accessories, clothes, handicrafts etc. A team of Bhojpuri singers performed in this fair and sang songs on social issues in local dialect. Total 32 stalls were put for exhibition in this Mela exhibiting various products and services.
