A New Chapter in Cleanliness in Patna, Organized by NIDAN and SIDBI
Patna, September 28, 2024 –The “Swachhta Hi Seva” 2024 campaign was successfully conducted today at the Adarsh Street Food Vendors Zone, Khau Gali, Patna. This program was organized by NIDAN in collaboration with the Small Industries Development Bank of India (SIDBI) to promote awareness about cleanliness and the importance of personal and social responsibility.
The Chief Guest of the event, Mrs. Anubha Prasad, General Manager, SIDBI (Patna Regional Office), shared her thoughts on the occasion, stating, “Cleanliness is not just a responsibility, but a duty. We all must work together to maintain cleanliness in our surroundings.” She appreciated the efforts of Nidan and the street vendors and mentioned that she has been associated with Nidan for the past 25 years. She further noted that SIDBI and Nidan have been jointly running several important programs for the benefit of the community. She also complimented the dishes from the Adarsh Street Food Vending Zone, stating that their food is even better and more delicious than that of star hotels.
As part of the “Swachhta Hi Seva” campaign, an awareness session was held, where street food vendors actively participated. At the end of the program, all participants took an oath to maintain cleanliness in their business areas, followed by a cleanliness drive in the market. SIDBI, NIDAN teams, and the vendors worked together to clean the market. The aim of the program was to raise awareness among street food vendors and customers regarding the importance of cleanliness and hygiene.
Pramod Kumar Singh, Program Manager of NIDAN, highlighted that NIDAN launched the “Chakachak Patna” campaign in 2002, which initiated door-to-door waste collection in the city. NIDAN has since carried out similar sanitation projects across Bihar, Jharkhand, Rajasthan, Hisar, and other states.
Vishal Anand, Program Manager of NIDAN, who facilitated the event, explained that “Swachhta Hi Seva” 2024 is being implemented as a movement across various markets in Patna with active community participation. He appealed to local citizens and Patna residents to ensure cleanliness in their areas, aiming for Patna to achieve the highest rank in cleanliness standards.
Mrs. Rashmi Ranjan, Deputy General Manager of SIDBI (Patna Regional Office), along with officials from SIDBI and Nidan, were present at the event. The President of the “Adarsh Street Food Vendors Zone,” Chhotu Kumar, as well as Pappu Kumar, Shishir Vats, Vijay, Sitaram, Santosh, Ranjit, Akhilesh, Pintu, Govind Babban, and street vendors and representatives from various areas also participated. Through their collective efforts, they promoted the message of “Swachhta Hi Seva” (Cleanliness is Service). They emphasized the importance of always disposing of waste in dustbins so that sanitation workers can properly collect and manage it.
This initiative not only sent a powerful message about cleanliness and health to Patna but also to the entire state of Bihar. The program highlighted the significance of cleanliness among street food vendors and took a solid step toward creating a cleaner and safer society.
