SDIBI Visit to the slums of Patna to meet and interact with women micro-entrepreneurs participating in the “Economic Recovery of Informal Women Workers” program

On 26th July 2024, a team from SIDBI, including the General Manager, conducted an inspection and visit to the slums of Patna to meet and interact with women micro-entrepreneurs participating in the “Economic Recovery of Informal Women Workers” program. This program is run by NIDAN with the support of SIDBI, aiming to empower and support informal women workers in urban Patna.

 Interactions and Discussions:

The SIDBI team engaged with women micro-entrepreneurs to understand their business operations, profits, and the impact of various training programs provided by NIDAN.

 Trades and Businesses Observed:

1. Disposable Plate and Katori Factory:

– Women involved in the production of eco-friendly disposable plates and bowls.

2. Spices Udhyam:

– Entrepreneurs producing and selling various spices.

3. Home Cleaning Item Trade:

– Businesses focused on manufacturing and selling home cleaning products.

4. Agarbatti and Dhoopbatti Trading:

– Women producing incense sticks and cones.

5. Pickle Making udhyog:

– Entrepreneurs engaged in the production of various types of pickles.

6. Tailoring Training Centre:

– A center providing tailoring skills and training to women.

7. MESS/Tiffing Service Udhyam:

– Women running small-scale catering and mess services.

 Observations and Feedback:

The SIDBI team noted significant progress and enthusiasm among the women micro-entrepreneurs.

The training and support provided by NIDAN have effectively contributed to their economic recovery and business growth.

Entrepreneurs shared their success stories and challenges, receiving valuable feedback and encouragement from the SIDBI team.

 Conclusion:

The visit highlighted the positive impact of the “Economic Recovery of Informal Women Workers” program. The collaborative efforts of NIDAN and SIDBI are playing a crucial role in empowering women in Patna’s urban slums, fostering sustainable economic development, and enhancing their livelihoods.

The SIDBI team’s visit was fruitful for us to excelarate our efforts towards the success of the program and reinforced the commitment to continue supporting and expanding these initiatives for the betterment of informal women workers in urban Patna.
