Meeting Discussions-
The meeting commenced with a formal introduction by the attendees. Teams GAIN & NIDAN presented the progress and milestones in the current tripartite project in Bihar. They apprised team BRLPS about the sensory evaluation results of the new THR recipes (RTE & RTC) formulated by NIFTEM that also conforms to the revised guidelines of NFSA 2023. The team also highlighted the repairs and replacement undertaken in Khagaria and Muzaffarpur plants. They stressed that plants in Muzaffarpur is ready for production while those in Khagaria will be ready by end of this month. It was proposed that in Muzaffarpur, the CLF and team BRLPS can produce other food stuffs to sell in “Didi ki Rasoi”, Jeevika Training Centres and in other markets until ICDS buy-in is secured. They also informed that while market assessment is being done to identify the open market product(s) to be produced, a 6-month study has been planned to be conducted for “business-plan” development of the open-market product.
Himanshu Sharma, CEO, BRLPS assured that BRLPS-Jeevika will provide due support as per the tripartite MoU to team NIDAN and GAIN in this project. He also took two packets of the new THR recipes with him. He stressed that lab reports of the recipes should be shared with the key stakeholders in BRLPS & WCD. He advised team GAIN & NIDAN to meet Harjot Kaur Bamrah, MD, WCD & Kaushal Kishore, Director, ICDS for liaison and support. He assured that BRLPS-Jeevika would also liaise with ICDS at its level for buy-back of the new THR products from the plants in Muzaffarpur, Khagaria & Gaya.

Meeting Discussions-
The meeting commenced with a formal introduction by the attendees. Teams BRLPS, GAIN & NIDAN briefly described about the project in Bihar in partnership with Jeevika-BRLPS. The team also discussed the similar projects being run in other states and the Supreme Court decisions regarding such cases. The partners reiterated the continued success of the project and the existing THR products in Bodh Gaya, Bihar. They intimated that the new THR recipes under RTE & RTC being formulated by NIFTEM under the project conforms to the revised guidelines of NFSA 2023. The team reiterated that continued coordination and support of ICDS is key to ensure quality and minimize leakages in the THR program delivery as well as create employment opportunities for the rural poor community.
Kaushal Kishore, Director, ICDS too discussed some recent developments like inclusion of eggs in the ICDS SNP Bihar. He also confirmed that the rate (price) of THR will be revised soon. However, he stressed the importance of a state-wide coverage of THR delivery instead of small-scale delivery being done by the tripartite partners in selected blocks of Muzaffarpur, Khagaria and Gaya. He assured that the success and prospects of this tripartite project will be discussed in the cabinet for approval. He also requested the partners to build up an advocacy momentum among the community for demanding packaged THR products like being produced by the SHG-owned DPU in Gaya, Bihar.
