A significant meeting was organized by Nidan today at the Mauryalok office to establish consensus for the formation of a City Level Federation (CLF). A large number of women members from SHGs and ALFs of Bahadurpur, Bazaar Samiti, Pahari Par, Kankarbagh, Shastri Nagar, Kamla Nehru Nagar, and Adalatganj participated in the meeting. The meeting was chaired by Mrs. Rekha Devi.
In the meeting, Nidan’s Founder and Executive Director, Mr. Arbind Singh, discussed the role and benefits of CLF. He emphasized that this would be a vital step toward empowering women and contributing to community development through their collective efforts.
During the discussions, all the women members of ALFs expressed their agreement on the formation of CLF. Many women shared how they benefited from SHGs, where they obtained loans to start their own businesses, became self-reliant, and freed themselves from the clutches of moneylenders. Among these, Rekha Devi (Shastri Nagar), Soni Devi (Bahadurpur), Seema Devi (Bailey Road), Rakhi Devi, Pinki Devi, and Poonam Devi (Kamla Nehru Nagar), among others, shared their successful entrepreneurial journeys and how they have been managing their households.
Nidan’s Program Managers, Mr. Vishal Anand and Mr. Shyam Shankar Deepak, provided detailed insights on the structure of ALF and CLF, the roles of members, and their collective impact. The draft bylaws of CLF were also discussed. It was unanimously decided to name the CLF *“Nari Shakti.”* The women further resolved to organize another meeting next month to finalize the program for the upcoming International Women’s Day celebration.
