In Pirhi Panchayat of Babubarhi block, Madhubani district, a meaningful step was taken to support the livelihood of a woman entrepreneur through collective community action.
Rukma Devi, a resident of the area, sustains her family by selling clothes across nearby villages. Due to financial constraints, she has been carrying goods on her head, which involves significant physical effort and limits her earning potential.
Recognising her determination and the challenges she faces, a meeting was convened with Self-Help Group members. After careful consideration of her economic condition and the physical demands of her work, the group collectively decided to support her with a cart.
This intervention is expected to ease her workload, improve her mobility, and enhance her income-generating capacity. It also reflects the power of community-led decision-making in addressing local challenges and empowering women towards greater self-reliance.
