A one-day farmer training session was held at the Panchayat Bhawan in Madhubani, organized by the National Seeds Corporation (NSC) in collaboration with LIC Housing Finance Ltd. (LIC HFL) and Nidan. The session focused on improving crop yields and preparing farmers for the upcoming Kharif season.
Sanjay Kumar from NSC introduced farmers to ‘Anant’ grass, highlighting its use as nutritious fodder for livestock. The discussion also covered key paddy varieties suited for the region, including BB-11, Katarni, and other scented varieties. Among these, BB-11 emerged as the preferred choice, with farmers noting its higher yield in local conditions and requesting a larger supply of its seeds. While most participants favored BB-11, some also expressed interest in the Katarni variety.
Farmers from Pirhi, Satghara, Kharak, Banni, Tirhuta, Maheshwar, Bela, and Chhaurahi attended the session. The training was well received, with participants emphasizing the need for such programs to be conducted regularly to support better agricultural practices and productivity.
